Andy manages our Boomer facility in Wilkes County. As a Physician Assistant, he is fully qualified to diagnose any number of illnesses and prescribe treatments. He consults with doctors as he needs to for unusual or atypical cases. In addition, he has full referring access to all of Hugh Chatham’s specialty practices.

Stephen Sasser, MD

Dr. Stephen Sasser is a born North Carolinian from Wilmington.  He grew up doing a lot of outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, camping, surfing, kayaking, rock climbing, biking, skiing, and hiking, so he has been fortunate to experience many parts of North Carolina.  He attended Appalachian State University for undergrad and obtained a business degree in Healthcare Management.  He enjoys patients of all ages and seeing a variety of medical problems, with special interests in sports medicine and acne treatment.  When not seeing patients he enjoys spending time with his family and outdoors as able.  Dr. Sasser’s wife, is also a family physician.  They have a wonderful son and 3 dogs.  They like to travel and are big Disney fans, going as often as possible!

Stephen E. Erlandson, MD

Dr. Erlandson was born in Austin, Texas, but was raised in Charlotte. He loves to tout that “HCMH is the best community hospital in North Carolina.” In his free time, you may find Dr. Erlandson hiking on Stone Mountain or fishing in one of our many streams and lakes.

My practice passion is the pediatric population. It brings me joy to care for children and monitor their growth and development.” Charity was born in Surry County, and she enjoys painting, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Hubbard has been practicing family medicine in Wilkes County for over 20 years! She was the Medical Director of the Mountain View Medical Center when it was acquired by Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and renamed Hugh Chatham Family Medicine – Hays.

When she isn’t practicing medicine, she enjoys many of the outdoor activities the area has to offer. She and her husband have four children.

Christopher W. Groner, MD

Dr. Groner has been practicing family medicine in Elkin for over 30 years! Since 1980, he has treated thousands of area residents who continue to see him for wellness visits and care when they become ill or injured.

If you have never seen Dr. Groner as a patient, you may know him through his activity in community theater. He is also an avid golfer who loves calling the area home for himself and his wife Debbie. Together, they have two children.

Jona Lamphier, DO

Dr. Jona Lamphier grew up in a small town in rural Pennsylvania.  She received her undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University.  She received her medical degree from the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Lamphier trained at the University of North Carolina affiliated New Hanover Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency  where she met her husband, Dr Stephen Sasser.  After residency, she and her husband moved to Pennsylvania and practiced family medicine including obstetrics for several years.  After their son, they moved back to Wilmington and opened their own primary care practice before joining the Hugh Chatham family.

Dr. Lamphier’s passion is being a patient advocate and she strives to provide compassionate, patient centered care.  She believes a close relationship between physician and patient should be at the core of our healthcare system.  She practices full spectrum family and enjoys seeing patients of all ages.  Dr Lamphier holds specific interests in women’s health, pediatrics and enjoys providing prenatal and newborn care.  She is also completing additional training in nutrition and integrative medicine.   Dr Lamphier additionally finds professional fulfillment in medical missions and providing care to underserved areas.

Dr. Lamphier and her husband, Dr. Sasser have a 4 year old son, Caden and 3 dogs.  She spends her free time outdoors, traveling, and cooking.  Dr Lamphier is also an avid college football fan!  We Are!  Penn State! Dr. Lamphier loves small towns and all they have to offer. She looks forward to being an involved member of the Elkin community and calling the Yadkin Valley her home!
